This is excellent coffee. It's very simple (at my 14% and 15.6% roasts) but in a really nice way. Immediately I taste a very milk chocolate sweetness. It's not overpowering but it's unmistakable. That's followed simply by the recognition of that unique velvety smooth mouthfeel. I'll continue buying Haiti coffees to get close to this taste, but wow, that mouthfeel... Nothing gets close.
This is a must-try

This is my first time roasting this bean. It is pricey but worth a treat to yourself. Roasted to right before second crack, this is a smooth, rich with a light chocolate and honey notes. An excellent bean. I will treat myself again soon.

I have been a home roaster for around 10 years. I have always loved the Kona and Blue Mountain. I take these about 5 seconds into second crack and it’s always near perfection. I’m glad I found The Coffee Bean Corral. They have a great selection and shipping is very fast. I’ll never go anywhere else.

This is not a review specifically of any coffee from Jamaica, but rather a comment on how thorough, competent and reliable the Coffee Bean Corral is.
I ordered some Jamaican Blue Mountain beans and some Panama Geisha beans. The order arrived in poor shape with the packaging open and damp from being left out in the rain by the carrier. I emailed Coffee Bean Corral and told them. Michelle immediately wrote back offering a replacement order for the damp beans. These Folk are the very best! They stand behind their products and customers. Thank you Michelle and Coffee Bean Corral.

i've only roasted once so far, a rather light roast. these beans seemed to take longer to roast for some reason. anyway i am vastly disappointed. i didn't find this coffee any better, really not as good, as my 8buck a pound brazilian. i'm going to give up on these high dollar beans from now on. i did roast again to a darker roast so i'm hoping my opinion will change. i first had this coffee in jamaica and it was delicious, this stuff was not. i am giving it one star, not because i truly hated it but to spend that much and not really like it that makes it a one star.

Impression on two Clydesdale JBM roasts on SR800 with Razzo V5 extension: It is my understanding that the Clydesdale JBM shines as a more fruit forward JBM not the most intensely complex JBM but a quality JBM nonetheless. My results confirm this. My longer roast took this to 430F and while beautiful in color and aroma, much of the floral aspects were lost. My shorter roast past first crack was pulled at 401F. This yielded a delightful cup with Clydesdale JBM qualities shining through. Hope this helps.

This is an expensive coffee but considering all the $$ I have spent over the past several years looking for good JBM coffee, this is the first I have found since the big hurricane that has that true, deep flavored flavor that I have missed so much. What a wonderful, rich coffee it is.

I purcased this almost 1 year ago. I just roasted the first batch of it. This is the Mavis Bank Jamaica Blue Mountain.
I have to say this coffee is right up there with the best I have ever tasted. Very rich, complex satisfying and pleasant taste. Green coffee beans last for 2 years or more, so this is probably the same as if I had roasted it when I bought it. I waited because I was still learning the ins and outs of my roaster, and how to get a proper roaste for an expensive bean. I practised on Ethiopia Yergacheffe and Yemen Mokha, and others, and finished my master class with a variety of Gesha coffees from Colombia and Panama, that I paid between $18.00 and $20.00 per lb. green. Three days ago I finally decided I have mastered the process enough to be able to roast a $40.00 bean with little chance of ruining it. As usual with a new bean, the roast was a tiny bit unpredictable, next time I will get it perfect with this Mavis Bank, the ROR got a little away from me at the end, but I dropped the beans at exactly 402 degrees F, and there was ALMOST NO CHAFF. Very strange. I usually get at least 2 tablespoons, maybe 1/4 cup of chaff, in this case, less than a teaspoon. I waited 1 hour (which should have done nothing) before cupping it, and it was already starting to improve. 1 hour after roast, the coffee was better than most Kenya, Ethiopia, or Sumatran coffees I have roasted. The next day this coffee was absolutely superb! When I broke open the bag, the area filled with the rich living aroma of coffee beans reaching their peak. When I ground the coffee, it intensified. I could stand there for 10 minutes just enjoying the aroma from the beans. I did a nice Americano based on a double espresso and was so very happy. 24 hours after roasting, this coffee was indistinguishable in level of quality from the very best coffees I have every had. Today, nearly three days later, it is even better, if that is possible. I usually drink about 1/2 of any cup of coffee I make, and then it is too cool to drink so I dump it. I drink this all the way to the bottom, and it doesn't last long enough to get cool. I figure at $40.00 per lb + ship, this is going to end up being about $.80 per cup. That is truly a bargain, especially since you just about *cannot* get this cup of coffee any other way. Finally, I believe this is real thing because there is so much fake Jamaica Blue Mountain out there. Kudos Coffee Bean Corral!!

Easily the best coffee!
I roast it towards close to the end of 1st crack around city roast level.
Cupping after 1 day of the roast, it still has some undeveloped flavors.
After 2 days, it begins to show the blue mountain magic.
No matter which level of roast you like, I suggest roasting it slowly and let it develop for a couple of days, you will get the best results.

HAVING ROASTED COFFEE SINCE 1985 (qualifier)
This particular batch that I have does not live up to my expectations as JBM.
The smoothness is minimal. The body is also.
Disappointing for sure.
Perhaps next time, authentic Wallenford Estate JBM??
For $36 per lb, I expected a lot more.

Not impressed. Maybe I didn't push far enough in final roast. Used a roaster profile that worked well with Haiti Blue.
Does not compare with Costa Rica La Magnolia Tres Rios or Costa Rica La Minita Tarrazu RFA.

Best JBM we've had since before the hurricane. Fine tuning my roast but enjoying every pot. I'll be re-ordering, mostly for special occasions. I just WISH I could drink it every day!

I just bought 3 lbs of this coffee. I roasted to about 30 seconds after 1st crack. Lost about 13%. I brewed this a day later using a V60 with a ratio of 6g to 100ml and the coffee was fantastic. Yes blue mountain is expensive but life is too short to drink bad coffee and its a nice treat once in a while.
