SR540/SR800 Glass Extension Tube

Buy It, This extension tube makes roasting beans on a breeze. A must for roasting 8oz of beans. The design creates a Bernoulli effect, which increases the air speed within the chamber. The beans are lofted effortlessly in the roast chamber. Higher temps are achieved at lower power setting. I start my roasting at Fan 8 Power 2 and Finish roasting at Fan 4 Power 5. The beans are evenly roasted every single time. The extra bean loft helps with removal of chaff. I have noticed rolling first crack and no stalling of the roast. Its even easy to achieve second crack. The lower Power and Fan setting for roasting will extended the life of the SR800 motor and heat element.

Pros: The unit itself, once assembled, feels solid. Its about the same thickness as a drinking glass, but not as thick or durable as say a pint glass. Everything you’ve already read about it is is correct. It drastically increases not only air flow, but the temperature control. The roasts appear to come out “more even” perhaps due to the increased movement. Overall the unit increases temperature, movement and control. It feels exactly like getting an upgraded roaster version from the same company, a version “tube.0” if you will? Larger batch size is possible, although you may need a chaff collector tweak. Cons: Its expensive for what it is. It is a “clunky” non-elegant solution, especially the way it fits into the other chamber. The product is top heavy and just assembling the parts in preparation to roast induces anxiety. Removing a rocket hot chaff collector at the end of the roast….doubles that anxiety. Although everything is available online these days, there were no assembly instructions or links in the packaging I received. Once assembled it no longer fits into the box it came in, so you will need to find another way to store it. As others have said this absolutely should be standard equipment for the FreshRoast(s). It should also include some kind of port for a bean probe(s). Conclusion:If your beans aren’t moving at the start of your roast, you could absolutely benefit from the extension tube. If you have uneven roasts you may benefit. If you have ham hands, are inherently clumsy or can’t sleep at night when things are “jury rigged” together, you might want to look elsewhere for another solution.

Great product! This should be included in original equipment. I have been roasting a half pound at a time and finally achieved the level of dark roast that I enjoy.

This extension tube works great it allows the coffee beans to rotate and allows a more even roast.

First one arrived in 1000 pieces. Poorly packed. Replacement arrived and it was a great add! CBC service was outstanding in replacement. Sad that tube isn’t shipped in a styrofoam case. But, all is well now and the tube really makes roast control easy. Very pleased, overall!

This item appears to be out of stock for the moment, but that doesn't surprise me. It works GREAT and exactly as I hoped it would. The extra length and agitation has added a whole level control to the roasting process that the SR800 should have had from the beginning. I absolutely love this product. Note - now that your roaster is very tall, do something to support it so that you don't knock it over :)
