Roasted to a medium roast (14.3% shrinkage). The beans are dense and takes some effort to move beans in an air roaster. Makes a very nice espresso or cappuccino. The chocolate and earthy notes pairs well with steamed milk.
My preferred Ugandan coffee from CBC is Uganda Mt Elgon.

Great coffee I roast medium and gives a wonderful chocolate flavor. I have been buying coffee for a couple of years now and I am always satisfied with the quality and speed of delivery.

I like Ugandan coffees generally. The quality of these beans is the best I have seen in terms of uniformity, color and size and post-roast. I like mixing a light roast with a much darker roast of the same coffee to get the complexity of the bean. One of my son's favorites.

Roasted to Full City, but just didn't do a thing for me. Kind of so-so, not bad, but not great.

When I placed it in the cast iron, I noticed debris among the beans. They weren’t an uniform roasting beans, I roasted it over fire like I’ve roasted most single origin beans. To my palate it tasted like tobacco. I wish I had gotten only a 1/2 lb on this one!

We have been to Uganda twice and both times brought home local coffee. We now can enjoy this freshly roasted at home! An interesting story came out of telling our "Ugandan" son what kind of coffee we get. Much to our surprise, his mother grows this same coffee in the Bugisu area! Perhaps some of this coffee is from her harvest!

This was easily my favorite from the African samples pack. Roasted til 1 minute passed 1st crack, and it came out so smooth and delicious. Barely any chaff, beans were well-balanced and consistent in shape and roast. The taste notes we received were sweet and smokey: molasses, chocolate, and vanilla. Very, very good!

Addition to my previous review:
This bean required longer time and higher temperature to reach 1st and 2nd crack in my SR-540 than all the other beans I've tried (Eth., Brazil, Colom., Sumatra, Ecuador). So, don't think you've made a mistake.

Great results whether you roast to middle of 1st crack or into 2nd crack. 1st crack emphasizes the fruitiness, while 2nd gets into a dark chocolate flavor. Both of these are smooth finishing to my taste. What a wonderful discovery. I hope it remains available for years to come.

This is an excellent bean! I roasted this to Full City plus and it turned out delicious. Earthy, almost chocolatey with an smooth mouthfeel. I was gifted a sample bag of this, but it will definitely be on my buy again list. I read other reviews that said this bean likes being roasted darker and they did not lie. It definitely does, but tastes like you are drinking a medium roast. Very good bean and definitely worth trying it in a sample pack.

This is a lovely coffee. I found that it has a robust full-flavor of a dark roast AND was lighter - it's hard to describe other than definitely not weak or watered down tasting. I roasted to 422*F and what devolped is a very lovely full-flavored earthy cup.

I'll be honest, I don't want to cause this Bugisu RFA to "sell out". It's my favorite, so this rave may create a "run on the market". I'm new to coffee roasting and have sampled (experimented) about 15 varieties since the pandemic started. When I reached the Unanda Bugisu I said "Stop sampling, this is it". No matter how I vary the roast profile the brew is, IMHO, superior to any other variety I have tried. There, I've done it. I'm not a hoarder, just save some for me!

I've had Ugandan beans several years back and really enjoyed them which is why I got the 10 pound bag. I don't know all the terms to describe coffee so I will just say this bean is one of the best I have used since I started roasting a bout six years ago. I do know what I like. You won't go wrong with this bean in a darker roast.
Over my roasting years I have pretty much settled on roasting medium dark to dark roasts and high altitude beans. My first roast of these was definitely dark. Mostly because the first and second cracks were not very pronounced, so pay attention when roasting this bean. My second roast was a nice medium dark. Both made an exception cold brew concentrated elixir which I add hot water to for my morning cup. This and the Bolivian bean are my top two beans right now.

Complex baking spices and chocolate. Low-Med acidity, rustic sweetness. Moderately thick mouthfeel (like milk). The character changed dramatically as the roasted coffee rested:
Day 3: dark chocolate, walnuts
Day 5: much more complex; pipe tobacco, almond extract, cedar, dark chocolate, mystery spice (nutmeg? allspice?)
Roasted just to the start of second crack in a Gene Cafe, then air cooled on an aluminum baking sheet. Prepared with an Aeropress on medium ground.

Complex cup of coffee roasted between medium and dark. agree with chocolate, earthy, and fruity undertones. Low acidity. By far my favorite coffee yet on my journey into roasting!

Part of the sample pack and I used it to learn more about my Hottop K2+ . Roasted it to Full City+ Just to see where 2C would start. Dropped it at 12:17 @ 387f. The result was that it made for a great dark roast. Some chocolate notes and nutty flavor (Brazil nuts ?). Good body and low acidity. I will buy another pound and dry this at different roast levels. I may use it for blending as well. As always, CBC’s customer service was excellent.

Roasted for 8 1/2 minutes in a SR500 on the medium setting, this Ugandan bean is somewhat atypical of other African coffee beans. None of the earthy or cardboard taste is prevalent as one might expect. Instead the Ugandan bean produced a rich, flavorful coffee infused with light chocolate and very subtle hints strawberry or huckleberry. The coffee is especially tasty as a pour over brew with a ratio of 18 grams of course ground to 12 ounces (354ml.) of water.
